The role of the customer service apprentice is an incredibly varied one that requires huge amounts of enthusiasm, energy and confidence.

You’ll be required to communicate confidently to groups of up to 24, be prepared to dress up and ‘make a fool of yourself’ and have a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

A typical day requires the following duties to be carried out:


Taking new bookings and payments, greeting customers on arrival and answer any queries the teams have as well as dealing with any new enquiries we have at the door, via the telephone and email.

Hosting & Games Master Duties

The host acts as the event facilitator, greeting customers upon arrival and checking them in, ensuring customers know what game they are playing, deliver any specific instructions and rules and providing a health & safety and before game brief. They will then provide support to the games masters throughout the games. At the end of the game the host takes team photos and mails them. They record the time the group escaped in, upsells our different products before supporting the games master with cleaning and resetting the game ready for next customer.

The Games Master is ultimately the most vital part of the job, they ensure the game is enjoyed by all, they monitor the players throughout the game, give clues or hints when requested. Typically our games masters will be in costume and depending on which branch you’d be working, you may be required to be alongside the players for the ‘crystal maze’ element of some of our games. Once the game is over, the games master is responsible for cleaning and resetting the game ready for next customer.

Additionally to the roles stated above, all members of staff help to maintain the high standards of cleanliness in the venue and undertake other reasonable duties upon request.


Never Give Up is the North East’s highest rated escape rooms. We have 2 venues, one in Newcastle, another in Middlesbrough. We are currently recruiting for customer service apprentices to join our growing team.

So what are escape rooms?

In a nutshell, participants are “locked” in a room and have to complete a series of tests, puzzles and clues that, combined with teamwork, will allow the unlocking of the room’s mysteries and ultimately escape.

All our rooms are themed, we currently have three available, an Egyptian themed room, a Horror Dungeon themed room and a Prison themed room.
