The Alzheimer’s Society (2014) reports there are over 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK today and with people living now to a much older age, many families are affected caring for loved ones with the condition.
This course enables learners to develop their knowledge and understanding of caring for individuals with dementia and gives an in-depth knowledge and understanding of dementia and its effects, with a focus on supporting individuals living with dementia via a person-centred approach. It also includes:
• The types of dementia and the importance of early diagnosis
• Person-centred approaches in dementia care
• The role of communication, interaction and inclusion in dementia care and support
• The use of medication to support individuals with dementia.
